Shelby County Young Republican's Chairperson Robert Luckey says the enthusiasm he sees this year in young people is unprecedented. "If there is anyone still out there who thinks young Republicans won't be a factor in electing conservative candidates this fall, they're dead wrong", said Luckey.
Statewide, Ohio's Young Republicans are between the ages of 18 and 40 and are interested in taking an active role in Republican politics. They are organized as a special group because as young people they have different skills, opportunities and situations to incorporate into their political activity. Young Republicans take a very active part in GOP activities in their communities -- doing everything from voter registration drives, to phone bank operations, to being campaign managers and staff as well as running for public office themselves. They provide crucial support to the Republican Party, working to ensure the future of the party in their communities and state.
